2005, comedians Russ Meneve & Ted Alexandro formed the NY Comedians
Coalition. Both men put their careers on the line, and stood up for
every working comedian in NYC (and across the world) who felt they
weren't being paid enough for their efforts.
Thanks to the Coalition, comedians are now paid nearly double for spots in ALL NYC clubs, catching up to the current cost of living. The well organized sort "union" was swift in accomplishing it's goals, and had strength in numbers as many big names supported the cause. The NYCC is still going strong, still setting mandates for other issues concerning working performers.
