3-6-04 Review of The Last Comic Standing Tour (Sacramento, CA)

The LCS tour finally made it's way to California this week. Being at the Punchline in Sacramento, we drove up to catch the show and see our man Rich Vos. So after an almost 2 hour drive, we got to the club to a long line. Luckily a friend of mine who I haven't seen in forever was at the front so she let us cut in. YAY! Anyway, the first show let out and Vos was talking to fans and acting really cool. So we got seated, and I saw Rich hanging out in the back so I went and made some small talk: letting him know I was from Cringe Humor, and how I was gonna be at the Jim Norton Roast in NYC, to which he replied "WHY!?!?" We chatted for a bit, then Natalie, Charlie and I took pics with him and just shot the shit about the roast, his plans for when he gets back to NYC, how he really likes CH, and how his stressful week has been going. I asked him if he's gonna be hanging out after the show to which he replies "If pussy's involved". We sit back down and anxiously await the start of the show.

The show started off with Cory Kahaney. We were hoping that a friend of CH would be hosting, but unfortunately, that was not the case. We find out that her Comedy Central Presents special will air in May.. So Kahaney comes out with her pregnant body and starts off with pregnant jokes. She goes into saying how her pregnancy was an accident because the guy was supposed to put it in her ass. Haha, funny stuff. There was talk about how they eat a lot while on the road, and how she sits back and watches Vos & Mordal try to get laid. She then went on to rap about her time working in a restaurant, her husband, working on a gay cruise, and her daughter. She was a dirty girl, and since I wasn't familiar with her material, I was shocked. She used the word "fuck" way more than I ever thought a chick would. She had a line that I thought was really funny when she started talking to a guy in the front row. She went to say "You having a good time sir? Well then tell it to your face." I just thought that was hilarious.

So next comes the man who we all came to see, Rich Vos. He starts off by tooling on a guy in the front wearing a gay Hawaiian shirt, who becomes the fagit of the night for Vos & Mordal to tool on. He then professes how he's so gay because he absolutely loves shopping for clothes and furniture. We then find out that he learned to steal in the hood and that he's worn out form traveling. He did some of his old stuff but a lot of his act was new to me. He of course did the AMTRAK joke about being on the phone, hating Canada & France, crackheads and how his name contains no vowels. He was flirting with this hot Spanish girl at the side of the stage all during his set. I noticed a lot of women shaking their heads in negativity to what he was saying, and he even pointed one out as he was flirting with a table of three young hotties. He did his "sitting Indian style" joke, and followed it by saying something along the lines of "There's the Cringe Humor". Vos killed with his set, which to our surprise, had no mention of him dodging his daughter!

Dave Mordal came up next to close out the show. He sauntered up fiddling with his cell phone for about a minute, which was kind of a drag. He looks like a vampire in person. He spoke about a clit pierced girlfriend, how he could never be gay, his time in the Marines, and Vos' cock. He also talked about his many DUI's, how it sucks to be raped at work, and his shitty car. The funny thing is that he tried to do a clean set, but had to revert to his dirty stuff, going back & forth between starting clean then finishing dirty. His set closed out with him talking to Vos who was in back. LCS talk came up, and when someone mentioned Dat, he tried to play a nice guy role saying how Dat is so funny and how he knew he was gonna lose to him. I then yelled out that the show was a fix, to which he replied that it wasn't a fix because the FCC would pull the show if it were. I think he was being sarcastic because he followed it up by saying that Dat sucks and there's nothing more to say about him because he's getting paid a lot of money for all the crap he's been doing. We then find out that Vos is audtioning for a sitcom this week, and the show ends.

We then waited for Vos after the show and chatted a bit, then he excused himself so he could go talk to the spanish girl from earlier. This chick was smoking hot and he was trying so hard to get some, but it didn't pan out. I think Vos was just too big for her. So anyway, he lights a cigarette, I bum one off of him, then we just chat a little bit more until Kahaney & Mordal come out so they can all leave. He tells me he'll see me in NYC on Wednesday and we part ways. It was a great show topped off with the great Rich Vos hanging with us. He was super cool and I can't wait to see him again at the end of the month in San Francisco.
